David Terry Moody
GASTONIA - David “DT” Moody, 73, of Gastonia passed away Thursday evening August 19, 2021. David was a Gaston County Native who served his country proudly in The United States Army for over 21 years. While in the Army he had many jobs including recruiter, helping troubled youth, processing medical patients, personnel management and most notably, he was an Equal Opportunity Specialist. David served in Vietnam and he had many medals, citations and top security clearances. After retiring from the Army in 1988, he worked for Freightliner. He said his hobbies were golfing, bowling and coaching Little League Baseball. He enjoyed riding his Harley and he even enjoyed crossing the country on his own on his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. All that knew and loved him will dearly miss David.
David is the son of the late Eloise (Haynes) Moody and Johnny Moody. His brother, Boyce Moody, also precedes him in death.
Left to cherish their memories of David and to carry on his legacy are his wife of 55 years, Phyllis Carswell Moody of the home, and sons Todd Moody and his fiancée Jennifer Smalley of Bozeman, Montana and Sean Moody and his wife Dana of Mt. Holly. Missing their grandfather are Aiden Moody, Keigan Moody and Kendalynne Moody.
Family and friends will gather at 1:00 PM on Monday August 23, 2021, at The Mausoleum of Peace at Gaston Memorial Gardens, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, to remember David’s Life. The United States Army and The Gaston County Honor Guard will accord full military honors for David. His sister-in-Law, Nancy Carswell, will eulogize David. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace.
