Quick reminder for those taking the Ashley Arms Tour Saturday morning at 10:00AM. Please meet with Gardner Mann McCarter at the orginal front steps of the high school at 9:45AM. Our Ashley Arms tour leader has emphasized that Ashley Arms is a residence and the numbered parking spots near the school are only for the residents. There is a handicapped access entrance at the top of the hill near the school. Please park at the bottom of the hill in the big parking lot near the Olios Restaurant.

Officially 15 days and counting.....
As our dinner sign up deadline has passed and we’re collecting all the names, let’s still have more fun at the reunion. We’d like to put together a collection of our old photos and make a DVD for all to bring home. However, we’re asking you to look through your old photos for a few specific themes. For the gals, we’d like to enjoy remembering our best and biggest hairdos. For the guys, we’d like to remember your first car or perhaps your favorite muscle car, both old and current. For guy and girl veterans, we’d like to collect photos of us in uniform, both old and current. Please send the photos to Jerry Spearman’s email, jrspearman@gmail.com. Please include as many details as you can—names, dates, events, places of photos, types of cars, size of the engine and even the name of your car. Please send these photos by Monday, September 11th so we’ll have time to copy them for all to enjoy during our weekend of fun. Please start hunting for those photos today!

Hey fellow classmates. You may have noticed that our fabulous reunion weekend includes a tour of our former Ashley High School, now Ashley Arms Apartment Homes, on Saturday morning. This has become a very popular part of our weekend. Ashley Arms is providing only one tour which is limited to 50 participants. So please note the tour is on a first come first serve basis. So if you're interested, please sign up quickly!

18JUL17 - REUNION UPDATE
It’s time for the latest update on what we've planned for our September 15-17th High School reunion weekend. We’ll be mailing invitations within the next two weeks. For those who are coming from out of town (and for those locals who desire a hotel for the weekend), we have reserved a block of rooms at the Gastonia Courtyard by Marriott at 1856 Remount Road, 704-852-4411, for both Friday September 15th and Saturday September 16th for $89 per night for a king room. The cost of tickets to the graduation festivities is $50 per person. This cost includes dinner on Friday night’s “Meet & Greet” gathering between 6:00PM and 10:00PM in the Marriott conference room, catered by R.O.’s Bar-B-Cue. The cost also includes our Saturday Night Reunion Celebration Dinner from 5:00PM to 10:00PM at Loray Mills on 300 S. Firestone Street, dinner catered by Homestead Grill of Denver, NC. There will be a complimentary cocktail hour from 5:00PM to 6:00PM prior to Saturday’s dinner. After 6:00PM there will be a cash bar.
Entertainment at our reunion celebration will sponsored by our very own classmate Gary Mauney and his band, City Lights. We will be honoring Coach Larry Rhodes and members of our 1967 Men’s basketball team to celebrate their winning the 1967 4A State Championship our senior year.
Additionally on Saturday morning, please come join us at 10:00AM for a complimentary guided tour of Ashley Arms (A.K.A. our very own Frank L. Ashley High School, which has been now converted into condominiums.) The tour will begin at the front steps of our old high school. As well please join us Sunday morning at 10:00AM for a memorial service in the Marriott conference room memorializing our deceased classmates as well as honoring our classmate veterans.
More details to come. We look forward to a wonderful and memorable weekend of fellowship and catching up on THE LAST 50 YEARS!

MAY 1, 2017 - REUNION UPDATE:
We're quickly closing in on our five month milepost until our big 50th reunion on September 16th. We're thrilled with reconnecting with almost 19% of our entire class. Please help us find our missing classmates and encourage them to sign up on our website.
With our goal of 40% participation (over 150 alumni) at our reunion, we're trying to formalize our budget by trying to keep our per person costs down but still make our reunion a special and memorable event. We thank those who have already contributed to our reunion costs. We are asking for any one time special donations toward our reunion as soon as possible as we're planning to send our invitations and registration forms in early June. Hello Ashley Alumni!
Our Reunion committee has been hard at work trying to find and reconnect with our classmates as well as plan a fun and memorable reunion weekend this fall. Our initial response to creating our ashley67.com website was a mere 14% of our original class of 440. So we recently completed a huge mailing of postcards to the last known addresses of our missing classmates. While there are a good number of us still live in the Carolinas, many of us have moved away because out-of-state education, job transfers, following a lost love, took a wrong turn or just plain old ran away from home. Even if you are no longer a Carolina local, please take a moment to update your name and information on this Ashley website as well as leave us a note of what event or reason lead you to move away. Additionally we'd love for you to mark your calendars for the weekend of September 16th and perhaps start making plans to fly into the old Charlotte Douglas airport and share fellowship with us for a memorable homecoming 50 years after our high school graduation. As an update to you out-of-towners, our Ashley High School has been converted into upscale apartments, called Ashley Arms. After Ashley closed, they merged Ashley High School and Lowell's Holbrook High School and formed a new Ashbrook High School located on New Hope Road. As well, after the old Mill site laid abandoned for years after its closing, it also has been converted in luxurious apartments called Loray Mills Loft Apartments, www.loraymilllofts.com. Our reunion dinner will be held at the event venue of the Loray Mill site. It will bring back memories for many of us, our family members or friends who worked at Loray.
As we get closer to realistic headcount of who will be attending our weekend reunion, we will announce our final plans and costs. So in the meantime if you know the whereabouts of any of our missing classmates, please encourage everyone to sign in on this website and get back in touch after 50 years. Also if you are able to make a donation toward keeping our final costs down, please make your check out to Ashley Class of 1967 and mail it to either Frank Rhyne, 3048 Village Ridge Drive, Gastonia, NC 28056 or Pamm Nolen, 3911 Beatty Road, Gastonia, NC 28056.
We thank the Lord that we still here to celebrate together this significant milestone in our lives. We should also take a moment to remember those who are no longer with us.
