LEAVENWORTH, KS — U.S. Army retired Staff Sgt./E6 Wayne Thomas Wright Sr., 58, passed away May 5, 2006, at Cushing Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 24, 1947, in Gastonia, son of Walter Lee and Lila Mae McCullough Wright. Wayne was a graduate of Frank L. Ashley High School class of 1967.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lee and Lila Mae Wright; brothers, Bobby and Danny Wright; and sisters, Vilet Sadler, Jessica Wright and Waltena Marie Wright. 

Wayne was career military. 

He enjoyed fellowship with God in his own way and enjoyed helping other people in their time of need. He was an active volunteer at the Eisenhower VA Medical Center, Leavenworth. He gave talks on substance abuse and drug and alcohol recovery at the V.A. Medical Center.
