CALABASH, NC - Larry Monroe Tate, 56, formerly of Gastonia, NC, passed away March 22, 2006 at his residence in Calabash. He was born October 29, 1949 in Gastonia, son of James Monroe and Ann Gilstrap Tate of Gastonia, NC. 

Larry was a graduate of Frank L. Ashley High School class of 1967. He was a General Contractor, attended the Beach Assembly of God, Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., member of Loray Baptist Church, Gastonia, N.C.

Larry is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Hammer Tate; sons, Mike Tate and Jason Tate, both of Gastonia, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Leah and Allen Tayler of Gastonia, NC; step-daughter, Donna Michelle Fay of Monroe, NC; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Theresa Tate of Kings Mountain, NC; seven grandchildren.

Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Gregory Kevin Tate. The officiating Clergy was Reverend Eugene Ware.

Graveside Service will be at 2:00PM on Friday, March 24, 2006. Visitation is at 12 Noon until 1:45 PM prior to the service, Friday, March 24, 2006, McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.
