GASTONIA - John Joseph Andrews, 65, passed away January 15, 2014 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. He was born November 11, 1948 in Durham, NC, son of the late Nathan O. and Susan Grant Andrews. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his sister, Jean Andrews Monteith and nephew, Steven Andrew Monteith.
He is survived by his significant other, Patricia Wilson of the home; sister, Judith Andrews of Gastonia; cousin, Jack Spady of Gastonia; step-daughters, Beverly Walton of Kentucky, Shannon Wilson of Gastonia, step-grandchildren, Meghan, Natalie, Jacob, Joshua Walton of KY, Jimmy Lynn, Kaitlyn, and Michael Price of Gastonia.
He was a graduate of Frank L. Ashley High School class of 1967. He attended Gaston College. John worked for 30 years in the US Post Office in Dallas, NC.
A celebration of life service will be held at Patterson Grove Baptist Church Family Life Center at 4:00PM - 6:00PM on Saturday.
Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607-3000 or your choice.

Johnny was another one of those Clay-Trenton-Wray JHS neighborhood friends that go way back. He always had a smile on his face, a kind word on meeting, and enjoyed life. Johnny, Clayton, and I had some interesting times at Gaston. Rest in Peace.
